This 2011 BMW 1M was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and subsequently built into a track car by Strom Motorsports of Costa Mesa, California. The car is finished in Valencia Orange Metallic and features a carbon-fiber roof panel and front splitter, an Aeromotions rear wing, and polycarbonate rear and quarter windows. Power comes from a replacement twin-turbocharged 3.0L N54B30 inline-six linked to a six-speed manual transmission and a Diffsonline limited-slip differential. A roll cage has been added to the cabin, which houses a Racetech seat, Sparco steering wheel, MoTeC C1212 display, CAE shifter, Motorola radio, fire suppression system, carbon-fiber trim, and automatic climate control. Additional equipment includes staggered-width 18” Apex wheels, Sparta six-piston front brake calipers, Strom forged uprights, MCS double-adjustable coilovers, Eibach sway bars, and Ground Control adjustable front camber plates and rear suspension arms. This 1M track car is now offered in Santa Ana, California by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records and a bill of sale.
The car left the factory finished in Valencia Orange Metallic (B44), and it has been modified with a Motorsport24 carbon-fiber roof panel and front splitter with integrated brake cooling ducts. An Aeromotions rear wing has also been added along with flush hood latches, tow loops, a rearview camera, and polycarbonate rear and quarter windows. The door windows have been removed, and paint chips around the car can be viewed in the gallery below.
The 18×10” front and 18×11” rear Apex wheels are finished in black and wrapped in 280/650 Hankook Ventus racing slicks. Sparta six-piston front calipers and 380mm rotors have been added, and the factory-specification rear brakes have been fitted with Pagid racing pads. The power steering pump and reservoir were replaced in 2020, and suspension modifications include the following components:
- Strom forged front-offset uprights
- MCS double-adjustable coilovers
- Ground Control adjustable front camber plates
- Ground Control rear upper control arms and toe arms
- Eibach adjustable sway bars
- Spherical bushings
The cabin is protected by a roll cage fabricated from TIG-welded chromoly tubing that extends to the rear shock towers, and the driver’s door panel is constructed from aluminum sheeting. A Racetech 4119 racing seat has been installed along with a CAE shifter, Motorola radio, Lifeline fire suppression system, and Schroth safety net. The instrument binnacle is covered in Alcantara, and carbon-fiber trim accents the center console. The dual-zone automatic climate control system has been retained.
The Sparco steering wheel is mounted to a Krontec quick-release hub and features integrated push-button controls. Factory instrumentation consists of a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level and oil temperature. The digital odometer indicates 49k miles, approximately 8k of which were added under current ownership. A MoTeC C1212 display and shift light module are mounted above the center stack.
The replacement twin-turbocharged 3.0L N54B30 inline-six was sourced from a donor vehicle with approximately 70k miles and installed in 2018, and it has been fitted with a baffled oil pan, a dipstick, AKG polyurethane engine mounts, and a custom-fabricated stainless-steel exhaust system with a catless downpipe and a Burns muffler. The fuel pump, spark plugs, and crankshaft damper pulley and belt were replaced in 2020 while replacement fuel injectors were installed in 2021. Invoices detailing work performed under current ownership are provided in the gallery.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a replacement six-speed manual transmission that was installed in 2020. It is linked to a Variable M Differential Lock sourced from Diffsonline and equipped with 3.62:1 gearing. A SPEC twin-disc clutch assembly has been installed along with AKG polyurethane transmission mounts.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
The car is not legal for road use and carries no title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale.
